ARTIST OF THE GALLERY
JENS-OLE REMMERS
A multitude of brief optical messages are gathered, superimposed, and become together a big colourful picture. Even if most of these bright cardboards are to be found in every supermarket, they don't usually catch the clients' attention. With these neglected packages, the artist has found a gold mine: from the nuggets he collects here and there, he creates his own money, a colourful pop currency. The bright world of "Brands" reminds us of a show featuring "Pinklady", "Pambo" or "Fabio Antonelli". All these names could appear on a playlist of pop songs or in Hollywood films. In this way, the artist turns what's actually only used as – a transport box made of cardboard printed with advertising and brands – to an end in itself through the piece of art.
